I'm writing this on my iPhone, as kind of a spur-of-the-moment type of thing, so the formatting may be off.
I wanted to talk about men, specifically creepy older men. Teenage girls know who I'm talking about. Those men who ask you if you have a boyfriend, catcall you, or comment on your appearance in a way that makes you uncomfortable but you're hesitant to say anything because the man is older. These men pray on teenage girls, using their gender and age to their advantage. They know that they can't be called out, because who is going to put an older man in his place, right? Wrong.
Standing up to the type of person who somehow thinks it acceptable to sexually harass teenage girls is exactly what we need to do. Remember, these men are purposely using their age as a tactic to target girls, so calling them out on it, whether they're 50 or 70, is crucial.
I can't count the number of times I've been ogled by an older man, and I'm tired of that. I've started to stand up for myself, when it's safe to do so. From flipping off older men who catcall me to simply actively and purposely ignoring older men who comment inappropriate things to girls because they crave attention. Any form of resistance is making a change.
