There are issues present in the MCU that have been present for as long as the MCU has existed. "Age of Ultron" and the cast promo interviews surrounding it were problematic.
There is a party scene in "Age of Ultron", and at the end of the party, the Avengers team, one by one, attempt to lift Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Feministing, an incredible feminist blog, talks about the issues surrounding this scene perfectly: "A version of this scene was released back in October in which Tony Stark says that, if he successfully lifts Thor’s hammer and therefore becomes the rightful ruler of Asgard, “I will be fair but firmly cruel.” Last week, a clip of the scene as it appears in the final movie was released. In this version, when Tony tries to lift the hammer he instead says that if he gains control of Asgard, “I will be reinstituting Prima Nocta.” Prima Nocta being the ancient (and possibly mostly mythical) right of noblemen to take the virginity of a peasant woman before she was married," ( http://feministing.com/2015/05/01/lets-talk-about-age-of-ultrons-rape-joke/). THIS IS A RAPE JOKE AND IT IS NOT OKAY. If you would like to see the scene, visit the following link: http://feministing.com/2015/05/01/lets-talk-about-age-of-ultrons-rape-joke/
"She's a slut," said actor Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) about Natasha Romanoff in an interview only a few short weeks ago. This comment was followed by hysterical laughter from Chris Evans (Captain America) who was seated next to Renner. "I was going to say something along that line...complete whore," said Chris Evans in response. "She has a prosthetic leg anyway..." said Renner, "Leading everybody on..." finished Evans. The responses of Renner and Evans were sexist, misogynistic, and ableistic.Though they did issue an apology, which was appreciated by fans.

"...the Maximoffs had their heritage erased, were whitewashed, and are supposed to be Jewish-Romani and instead signed up for a Neo-Nazi organization," (seen on: http://josswhedonisnotafeminist.tumblr.com/ where http://pietrosilvrs.tumblr.com/ is credited). This sums up the terrible representation of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff in "Age of Ultron". Having Jewish-Romani characters who were the children of Holocaust survivors work for a Neo-Nazi organization is truly disgusting.
"In one particularly bizarre scene, Widow describes herself as a "monster" after admitting that she is infertile. At best, this was an awkwardly worded reference to some other aspect of her troubled past. At worst, it's a deeply offensive scene in which a beloved superhero equates female sterility with the destructive power of the Hulk," (http://www.dailydot.com/entertainment/avengers-age-ultron-review/). Comparing infertility to being a monster? Really? This scene was disappointing, to say the least. This also is the writer's lame attempt at allowing Widow to develop as a person and to allow us to explore her past: "But Natasha–Natasha is now the only member on the team who has not spoken about her past at all. And now the only thing we have seen about her past is that she was sterilized. “LOOK, LOOK, SHE’S A WOMAN,” that plotline screams...Her womb is the only thing that matters about her past in the entire movie," (seen on: http://josswhedonisnotafeminist.tumblr.com/ where http://temporarily.tumblr.com/ is credited).
At one point in the movie, Black Widow finds herself trapped in a cage by Ultron.
"Here’s an example of bad characterization: locking a character whom we’ve seen as being so tricky as to trick the god of tricking in a cage, and having her stay there doing nothing until her romantic interest can come along and save her. Natasha Romanoff would not have waited around for that to happen. Natasha Romanoff would absolutely love Bruce with her entire heart but I cannot, in a million years, accept Natasha *running away* from a fight, even if it was to be with the man she loves," (seen on: http://josswhedonisnotafeminist.tumblr.com/ where http://temporarily.tumblr.com/ is credited). Whedon attempts to weave a love story between Bruce and Nat into the movie, and by doing so erases parts of Natasha; turning her into the 'damsel in distress' we see so often in film, waiting to be rescued by her love interest.
"Y’all I realize we’re upset about Nat’s treatment in AoU which is very legitimate complaint but can we talk about how the only woman of color in the entire cast was mind-controlled and used as a plot device and stabbed and left for dead only to reappear at the end with no explanation...do not forget Helen Cho...do not only focus on the mistreatment of white women in the narrative," (seen on: http://josswhedonisnotafeminist.tumblr.com/ where http://sourcedumal.tumblr.com/ and http://vintagecartinelli.tumblr.com/ are credited). Helen Cho is a scientist in AoU; she is the only non-white major female character in the movie. Cho's only relevance in the movie was to advance plot by being a reluctant ally to Ultron, Ultron trying to kill her after he no longer finds her useful.
